Jodi Huisentruit: The Missing Anchor and the Investigation Still Taking Tips
The Iowa television journalist disappeared in 1995. A lead investigator described an active inquiry in 2026.
Jodi Sue Huisentruit's last-contact date in Iowa's official missing-person record is June 27, 1995. The record identifies Mason City Police as the local contact and continues to list her as missing. [S1]
Huisentruit was a morning anchor at KIMT television in Mason City. Her disappearance became a story that colleagues had to report about someone whose work had been to report the news. A July 2026 Radio Iowa account marked thirty-one years since she vanished. [S2]
What the investigator said after thirty-one years
In that report, lead investigator Terrance Prochaska described an inquiry that still received tips and pursued leads. He said he worked with Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation agent Ryan Herman and described investigative travel in several states during the preceding year. He also said he remained in contact with Huisentruit's family. [S2]
The account offers a more specific picture than simply calling a case cold: investigators described ongoing work and a continuing relationship with relatives. It did not announce a recovery, arrest or solved case.
Limited public updates do not describe the whole inquiry
Prochaska also cautioned that misinformation circulated around the case. He explained that police could not disclose everything publicly because of the investigation and the people involved. His description addressed why a long interval without a public announcement need not mean that no work was being done. [S2]
That is the investigator's explanation of his team's approach. It does not establish the truth of any unannounced theory, and it gives no basis for identifying a private individual as responsible.
Where information can go
Iowa's official listing provides the Missing Person Information Clearinghouse number, 515-725-6036, as well as Mason City Police as a contact. The record describes Huisentruit as five feet four inches tall, with blonde hair and brown eyes. [S1]
Her continued presence in that record is an appeal for information about a missing person. The many years of coverage have not changed the basic distinction between a highly public case and a publicly established resolution.
