Angela Hammond: The Last Call from a Clinton Payphone

FlashUnfolded Editorial · source-based case file · 1-minute read · 2 sources

A 1991 phone call remains a central point in Missouri’s missing-person appeal.

Angela Marie Hammond was last heard from at approximately 11:45 p.m. on April 4, 1991. A missing-person poster preserved by the Missouri State Highway Patrol says she was calling from a payphone near Second and Jefferson Streets in Clinton, Missouri. Her nickname was Angie. [S1]

An appeal preserved across decades

The poster includes photographs taken before the disappearance and an image age-progressed to forty-three. It describes brown hair and brown eyes, a height of four feet eleven inches and a small scar on her upper lip. The poster bears a May 2021 capture date; its displayed age is historical, not her age today. [S1]

That distinction matters for a search spanning decades: an age-progressed picture is a possible later appearance, while the original photographs show Angela before she disappeared. Neither is a documented subsequent sighting.

Still listed as missing

Missouri's active missing-person registry continues to list Angela Hammond, missing from Clinton on April 4, 1991 at age twenty, with Clinton Police as the investigating agency. The registry explains that its information comes through the investigating agency and is updated from the National Crime Information Center. [S2]

The listing is an official request for information, not a solved-case narrative. A telephone call fixes one point in the timeline; it does not establish who was responsible for what followed.

Anyone who can add relevant information should contact the investigating agency through the official listing. The unanswered question remains what happened after Angela's call that night.
