A Boy's Lemonade Stand Kept Getting Robbed. The Whole Town's Answer Was Perfect
His jar of quarters kept disappearing. When the neighborhood found out, they didn't get mad. They got organized.
The boy had set up his lemonade stand to save for a bike, hand-lettered sign and all. But twice that week he'd come back from a bathroom break to find his money jar emptied out.
He was ready to quit, convinced the world was meaner than he'd thought. His mom mentioned it to one neighbor, mostly just to vent. That neighbor mentioned it to another.
By the next Saturday, the boy's corner had turned into the busiest spot in town. Neighbors took turns 'buying' cup after cup, some paying with five-dollar bills and waving off the change, others just sitting nearby so the stand was never unwatched.
He hit his bike goal by noon and had enough left over to donate a stack of cups to the next kid who wanted to try. As for whoever took the money, the boy shrugged and said, 'Maybe they needed it more. I got a whole town instead.'
