A snow-covered driveway stood between Natalie Blair and an early dialysis appointment in New Jersey. Patrick Lanigan, a senior at Parsippany High School, gathered four friends to help her get out after an overnight snowfall in March 2019.

The teenagers stayed together overnight and began shoveling around 4:30 in the morning. Lanigan told WABC that they finished around five. Working together, the five students had cleared the drive before Blair needed to leave.

When Blair came outside at six, she found the route ready. She later told the station she had reached dialysis safely. Patrick and his brother had helped the Blairs for years; that morning, his friends joined in so the snow would not prevent her journey.
