I called him for plumbing but he also did me . A pipe under the kitchen sink had started leaking, and after several attempts to fix it herself, Emma finally admitted defeat. She searched for a local plumber, found a number, and made the call.
“Hi, I have a leak under my sink,” she explained. The plumber said he could come by that afternoon. “Perfect,” Emma replied. She expected the job to take twenty minutes. She was completely wrong.
When the plumber arrived, he introduced himself as Daniel and carried a large toolbox through the front door. “Where’s the problem?” “In the kitchen.” He crouched beneath the sink and inspected the pipes. After a few minutes, he looked up. “This isn’t just a loose connection.” Emma immediately became nervous.
“How bad is it?” “Not terrible,” he said. “But you’re going to need a replacement part.” She sighed. “Of course.” Daniel smiled. “Don’t worry. I’ve seen much worse.” He got to work. Emma decided to stay nearby because she needed to understand what had gone wrong.
For the next half hour, the kitchen was filled with the sounds of tools, running water, and occasional muttering from underneath the sink. Finally, Daniel stood up. “Good news.” Emma smiled. “It’s fixed?” “Almost.” She stared at him. “There’s another problem.” Emma crossed her arms.
“What now?” Daniel pointed toward the cabinet. “This wood has been damaged by the leak.” Emma groaned. “That explains the smell.” “It does.” She had assumed the problem would end there. Instead, Daniel explained that the cabinet would need attention.
He could repair it temporarily, but a carpenter would eventually need to replace part of the wood. Emma laughed. “So I called a plumber and now apparently I need a carpenter too.” Daniel laughed. “That’s usually how home repairs work.” One problem reveals another. Then another. And another.
Emma shook her head. “I’m never buying a house again.” “Apartment?” “Definitely.” The repair continued. Eventually, the plumbing was completely fixed. Daniel packed away his tools. Emma looked under the sink. Everything appeared dry. She was relieved. “Thank you,” she said. “No problem.” She reached for her wallet.
Then Daniel suddenly stopped. “Wait.” Emma looked up. “What?” “I noticed something else.” She stared at him suspiciously. He pointed toward the hallway. “Your door.” Emma looked confused. “My door?” “It’s not closing properly.” She walked over. He was right. The door had been scraping against the floor.
“You’re kidding.” “Nope.” She tried closing it. It stuck. She opened it again. Then she tried once more. Nothing. “How did I never notice that?” “You probably got used to it.” Daniel examined the hinges. “It’s not a plumbing problem.”.
