A foam drawer liner cut to each tool's shape, or even a strip of tape labeling where things live, turns a jumbled bin into a system where a missing tool is obvious at a glance.

The same trick works for the tiny stuff. A few small jars or a divided box for screws, anchors, and picture hooks means you'll never again buy a whole new pack because you couldn't find the three you owned.
