When Andrew moved into Dominique and Kevin Gill's home in Nashville, their son Joc offered a simple invitation: come and play video games. It gave the boys something to do together while Andrew settled into an unfamiliar home.
They found more common ground in snacks, games and the ordinary hours spent side by side. A friendship developed during Andrew's placement with the Gills, turning a house he had just entered into a place where he had a close companion.
In 2020, the family adopted Andrew. Joc was no longer only his friend; he was his brother. The change gave the boys a shared future as well as the everyday interests that had brought them together. Their story began with an invitation to play, and grew into a permanent family.
