What Really Happens When You Skip Your Warm-Up And Go Straight In
We've all done it when we're short on time, but your body clocks every second.
You're running late, the clock is against you, so you skip the warm-up and dive straight into the hard stuff. Everyone has done it. But your cold body notices, even if your ego is pretending everything is fine.
A warm-up isn't just a box-ticking ritual. It gradually lifts your heart rate, sends more blood to your muscles and gently wakes up the joints you're about to ask a lot from. Skip it and everything feels stiffer and clunkier.
Going in cold usually means those first few reps or minutes feel harder than they should, your movement is less smooth, and you're more likely to tweak something because your body simply wasn't ready for the sudden demand.
The fix is refreshingly small. Even five easy minutes of light movement makes a real difference to how the rest of your session feels. Treat the warm-up as part of the workout, not the annoying thing standing between you and it.
