Why Players Wear Those Weird Crop-Top Vests Under Their Jerseys

It's not fashion. It's surveillance — and the players volunteered for it.

<p>Peek under a jersey during any goal celebration this summer and you'll spot it: a snug black vest that looks suspiciously like a sports bra. Every player wears one. Almost nobody explains it.</p>

<p>The vest holds a GPS tracker between the shoulder blades. It logs every sprint, every deceleration, every yard covered — thousands of data points per match.</p>

<p>Coaching staffs use that data to decide who's tiring, who's due for a substitution, and who trained too hard on Tuesday to start on Saturday.</p>

<p>So that odd undergarment is basically a lie detector for legs. Players can claim they feel fresh. The vest already told the coach the truth.</p>
