Why Your Body Feels Colder Than Usual A While After A Big Workout

You were roasting mid-session, now you're reaching for a hoodie. What flipped?

During hard effort your body cranks up the heat and works overtime to cool you down, sweating and sending blood toward your skin. Once you stop, all that cooling machinery is still winding down while the heat production drops away fast.

The result is that gap where your cooling response is still lingering but you're no longer generating much warmth, leaving you feeling cold. Add a sweat-damp shirt clinging to you and the chill can sneak up surprisingly quickly.

The easy fix is to get out of damp kit and into something warm and dry not long after you finish. A dry layer over your shoulders makes that awkward post-workout shiver far more bearable, and honestly a lot more pleasant.
