You've Been Charging Your Phone Wrong Your Whole Life, Apparently

The overnight habit almost everyone has is quietly aging your battery faster than it should.

Plugging your phone in before bed feels responsible. Wake up, full battery, ready to go. But leaving it pinned at 100 percent for hours is one of the quiet habits that wears a battery down over the long haul.

Modern batteries are happiest lounging in the middle, roughly between 20 and 80 percent. Living permanently at the very top or the very bottom puts them under gentle but constant strain that adds up over months and years.

Most phones now include an optimised charging setting that learns your routine and holds off on that final top-up until just before you wake. If yours has it, switch it on and forget about it. The phone does the thinking.

You do not need to obsess or babysit a charging cable. Just stop treating a full battery as the goal at all times. Let it breathe in the middle, and it will keep holding a decent charge long after your friends are complaining.
