For a school day devoted to dressing as a favorite person, five-year-old Easton Blocker chose someone he saw in his own hallway. He wanted to look like Jeffery Cross, the security officer at his elementary school in Jacksonville, Arkansas.
Easton’s mother bought a yellow shirt and added Junior Security lettering. The outfit echoed Cross’s uniform, turning the boy’s admiration into something the officer could see immediately.
Cross told Good Morning America that the choice surprised him. He remembered Easton greeting him with a hug from the beginning of the school year, while Easton's mother said her son called the officer his best friend. She later invited Cross to their home to play kickball with Easton.
