The Fridge Myth About Tomatoes That's Wrecking Your Salads
Everyone chills them. That's exactly the mistake.
Cold storage doesn't keep tomatoes fresh. It strips them of the very thing that makes them worth eating.

Chilling below about 12 degrees Celsius dulls the aromatic compounds that give a ripe tomato its flavour, and it turns the flesh mealy.
Keep them on the counter, stem side down, out of direct sun. They stay juicy and taste like actual tomatoes.
Only fridge them once they're fully ripe and you need a day or two more. Then bring them back to room temperature before eating.
